History

One does not always have to change to be innovative

Chevalier’s history goes back to 1916 when Cees Chevalier founded a book, stone, and steel printing company in Rotterdam. Unfortunately Cees was not able to manage the company for a very long time, dying at a young age. His wife, Cis Chevalier led the company for a number of years, after which she was assisted by her son Cees Jr. Chevalier. With the entrance of Cees Jr. the company flourished to became an international player.

In the sixties the 3rd generation of three Chevalier brothers made their entrance into the company. Provided with extensive knowledge, full of passion, and dedication, Rombout, Wijnand, and Evert managed the organization for nearly 40 years. With 100 employees, customers in Europe, America, Asia and the Pacific, Chevalier has become a landmark in the international graphic media industry. It has also become Holland’s largest independent sheet –fed offset printer.

In 1999 the fourth generation entered the company. Diederik, Alexander and Robert Chevalier, sons of the former board of directors. New services were introduced and new products developed to upgrade Chevalier to a full service international graphic media enterprise. These qualities are tied in with innovation, client focus and entrepreneurship which are a part of our day to day business.
